HES 145 Health and Wellness for Everyone
Overview of Course
What does “wellness” really mean—and what does it look like in your everyday life? This course invites students to explore their own definition of well-being while building a meaningful foundation in the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual dimensions of health.
Along the way, students will experience holistic and culturally grounded practices—such as meditation, yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, and movement-based healing—and discover how different communities around the world use these traditions to stay balanced and connected. The class pairs these experiences with evidence-based insights from the biological, behavioral, and social sciences to understand what truly supports lifelong wellness.
Beyond learning about health and wellness, students will reflect on how to take ownership of their own well-being and how your choices influence the people and communities around you. Through discussions, hands-on activities, and exploration of traditional and contemporary healing practices, students gain a richer, more global perspective on what it means to feel healthy, grounded, and resilient.
