Bestselling Author and Clinical Psychologist Meg Jay, Ph.D. offers “Mental Health Strategies for Twentysomethings” lecture at Colorado State University
The free public event is sponsored by CSU’s College of Business and Division of Student Affairs in partnership with Semester at Sea
Fort Collins, Colorado, [March 20, 2024] — Bestselling author and clinical psychologist Meg Jay, Ph.D. will offer mental health strategies for twentysomethings, their parents and university faculty and staff, when she appears at Colorado State University on Tuesday, March 26, at 4 pm in the Lory Student Center, Ballroom D. The event is free and open to the general public.
Meg Jay, PhD. is the author of the best-selling book The Defining Decade and the forthcoming The Twentysomething Treatment (Simon & Schuster), which offers an urgent message about the young adult mental health crisis in America and how to address it.
At a time when an unprecedented number of youth are being diagnosed with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and more, The Twentysomething Treatment (hardcover on sale at the event and out nationally on April 9) offers readers a revolutionary remedy for twentysomethings and those that love and support them. Kirkus Reviews calls this title a combination of “therapeutic experience with personal insights, providing a wealth of guidance to those who most need it.”
For twenty-five years, Meg has specialized in twentysomethings, an often misunderstood, and even maligned, age group. Her TED talk, “Why 30 Is Not the New 20,” is among the most watched of all time, and The New York Times recently called her the “Patron Saint of Striving Youth.” This makes Meg well-positioned to lead—and change—the current conversation about young adult mental health.
In her lecture at Colorado State University, Meg will share mental health strategies for college students and key ideas from The Twentysomething Treatment including why the twenties are the most uncertain—and most difficult—decade of life, as well as what the latest research says about what young adults can do to be happier and healthier.
Meg has become familiar with CSU through her time as a faculty member on Semester at Sea in Spring 2020 and Fall 2022. Her new book, The Twentysomething Treatment, includes a chapter on her time on the ship and what she learned alongside her twentysomething students as they navigated the uncertainty of COVID-19 in the midst of their Spring 2020 Voyage.
This event is co-sponsored by Colorado State University’s Division of Student Affairs and the College of Business, in partnership with Semester at Sea. Following her talk, Meg will be available for a Q&A session and book signing. Copies of The Twentysomething Treatment and The Defining Decade will be on sale at the event through the CSU Bookstore.
