Overview
This scholarship is designed to encourage young people to reach their highest potential, to create in them the courage to embrace risk and change on their way to becoming future global leaders, and to ensure that the voyage is accessible to all students regardless of financial limitations. Recipients of the HBCU Research Fellowship will be expected to embody the spirit of the Semester at Sea mission and maintain the highest standards of conduct and academic participation.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- Maintain full-time undergraduate enrollment at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
- Demonstrate leadership through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
- Meet the 3.0 GPA requirement
- Submit a Letter of Reference
HBCU Research Fellowship Scholars will be asked to:
Participate in a seminar to present your research project idea, and write (with the support of our communications team) three (3) blog articles throughout their voyage so that we may follow the progress of the project.
