PSY 328 Psychology of Human Sexuality

Overview of Course

What does it mean to be a sexual being? How does our culture shape our understanding of sexuality, and how do biological, psychological, and social factors intertwine in our sexual experiences? In Psychology of Human Sexuality, we explore the complexities of human sexuality through a multidisciplinary lens, examining everything from sexual development and orientation to the influence of culture, society, and media on our sexual attitudes and behaviors.

This course covers a wide range of topics, including sexual anatomy and hormones, sexual health and dysfunction, reproductive rights, sexual orientation, love and relationships, sexual violence, and the portrayal of sex in popular culture. Students will engage in thought-provoking discussions and critical examinations of controversial topics such as gender roles, sexual exploitation, and sexual education.
By the end of the course, you will gain a deeper understanding of the diversity and richness of human sexuality, and how it impacts our identities and lives. Prepare to challenge your assumptions, expand your perspectives, and develop a well-rounded view of one of the most fundamental aspects of human existence.
